Meet Bowzer, the new hound

We finally caved in and got a dog. James said that a dog was all he wanted last Christmas and we got him video games instead, hoping the video games would suffice. But, for his 13th birthday this year, he stuck to his guns for a dog.

Bowzer was at the Portland Humane Society. He's a one-year-old beagle/Jack Russell terrier mix. We think he's great. He came to us mostly potty trained. Here are a few pics of the hound.

Kristy's additions to Bob's post:

Yes, we do think he looks like Wishbone. Yes, he also looks like Cow Belle 2.0, except he's (so far) much better mannered.

Bob is having a great time with the little guy because that dog loves to go on Bob's morning run. The kids love him because he enjoys playing "sit" with them, and he's very sweet natured and puts up with their constant "dog training". I like him because he's cheerful and he doesn't bark.

I got a book from the library on mixed breeds and it described the Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier mix as "a beagle on amphetamines. Where do you put the batteries in this thing?" That's a pretty accurate discription of him, but I suppose he also could have been described as "a Jack Russell Terrier on mellow pills". Which I can live with.

Bowzer is very cute. Jacob says he hopes that Bowzer barks but I am glad to read that he doesn't! Congratulations on the new member of your family.

Congratulations! It seems like there will always be a dog somewhere in the Stovall family. How is Nickie liking the new dog? Has she adjusted well?

Nicki is doing very well. She decided a few months ago that she wasn't afraid of dogs, and when we looked for a dog she was great. She is happy with bowzer unless she is tired or the dog is hyper. I'm surprised at how good she can be at giving Bowzer commands though!
